April_08: International meeting in Krakow for the eYES project
eYES project - led by the Department of Computer Science of the University of Pavia (Italya) and coordinated by Multimedia Campus - holds an international meeting in Poland on April 3 and 4.
eYES is an international project funded by the Leonardo da Vinci programme that aims at making available new tools for creating and managing training programmes fully accessible to VIPs:
- An e-learning platform accessible to VIPs
- An authoring tool accessible to visually impaired instructors
- Online courses on Internet security accessible to VIPs
The team has complementary skills in the field of e-learning and VIPs training. In addition to the University of Pavia and Multimedia Campus, other members are:

March_08: E-learning Workshop in Graz, for the AHVITED project
The project led by the Royal National College for the Blind (UK), where Multimedia Campus is responsible for the production of graphic contents, holds an international meeting in Austria on March 6th and 7th.
This project’s objective is to provide an innovative method of delivering visual graphics to people who are visually impaired by the way of touch and sound using tactile diagrams with integrated sound files.
The main target group for this project is learners who are blind or visually impaired studying on distance learning programmes, with the secondary benefit to education and training providers.
The main activities will be the development of systems currently used in the classroom for wider application in distance learning courses and the creation of 3 sets of pilot course materials to evaluate the proposed methodology. Outcomes will be an operating system, pilot course materials and a training manual.
The team have complementary programming, teaching and special needs education skills. In addition to the Royal National College, other members of the team are:
- Multimedia Campus (Italy), in charge of visual graphics
- Dublin City University (Ireland), responsible of technical issues
- Institute of the Blind and Partially Sighted (Denmark), in charge of research about users’ needs
- Romanian Society for Life Long Learning (Romania), as quality assurance leader
- Vocational Promotion Institute, Styria (Austria), responsible for didactic contents

September_07: AICA Conference 2007
“The accessibility of e-learning” is the title of the paper that Multimedia Campus will present within the AICA national conference, which will be held on 20th-21st September in Milan and 27th-29th September in Mantova.
The conference will focus on “Citizenship and digital democracy”, and will put together contributions on several research areas: new services for the e-citizen, digital divide, ICT training and usability, among others.
Multimedia Campus has been invited to the Conference in order to present the first results of the eYES European project (www.eyesproject.eu). The presentation will take place at the University of Mantova on 28th September 2007, h. 10.45.

July_07: “Formal vs. Informal E-learning”
The IV Conference of the Italian E-Learning Society takes place at the university of Macerata on 4-6th July 2007, and is focused on the formal/informal elements of e-learning.
The event is promoted by CRUI, by the Macerata Municipalty and by the Department of Education and Training of the University of Macerata.
The objective is to foster the sharing of experiences and ideas - on a scientific and professional level - between researchers and experts in the e-learning field.
Multimedia Campus has been invited to the Conference in order to present the first results of the eYES European project, with a speech and an article on “
E-learning and visual impairment”.

June_07: International meeting in Copenhagen for AHVITED project
The project led by the Royal National College for the Blind (UK), where Multimedia Campus is responsible for the production of all graphical contents, takes place in Denmark on June 6th – 8th.
This project will provide an innovative method of delivering visual graphics to people who are visually impaired by the way of touch and sound using tactile diagrams with integrated sound files.
The main target group for this project is learners who are blind or visually impaired studying on distance learning programmes, with the secondary benefit to education and training providers.
The main activities will be the development of systems currently used in the classroom for wider application in distance learning courses and the creation of 3 sets of pilot course materials to evaluate the proposed methodology. Outcomes will be an operating system, pilot course materials and a training manual.
Initial work will include a research period to fully understand the complex problems experienced by distance learning providers in delivering visual data to those who cannot see.
